A musically oriented reference book (572 pp) with entries arranged by composer. The first main section deals with ballets and dance works choreographed to newly-composed scores, the second with those using existing concert works. Scenarios are given in full and in their musical context. Several composers contribute entries on their own works; most of the other contributors are music critics or musicologists. (See also Weill)
